Arlington Heights police received a report about 11:25 p.m. Thursday of a burglary to vehicle in progress in the 800 block of East Shady Way. The offender is described as a male/Hispanic, 5′ 6″ to 5′ 7″ and 125 to 130 pounds. He was wearing a gray hoodie, a black or dark blue jacket over the hoodie, and blue jeans.

Mount Prospect assisted with setting up a perimeter and search east of the neighborhood. Minutes before midnight an Arlington Heights police officer reported he saw a suspect running southbound from Embers Lane and Algonquin Road toward the industrial center.

At one point police thought they caught up with a suspect, but that person may have been released.

Elk Grove Police Department’s K-9 unit assisted in a search until about 2:30 a.m. A suspicious person that matched the suspect’s description was reported standing on a patio deck in the 2600 block of South Goebbert. The K-9 picked up a scent from the deck, but no suspect was found.
