An Arlington Heights police officer on a traffic stop at the Parkway Bank on Algonquin Road, just east of New Wilke soon realized he was not on a routine traffic stop. Just after midnight, he pulled over a gray Chevy Impala with two male/blacks and one male white inside. The Arlington Heights officer called for a routine backup. As another Arlington Heights squad arrived and a Rolling Meadows squad voluntarily arrived, a front seat passenger bolted out of the car and toward the back of the Parkway Bank.

The Arlington backup officer and the Rolling Meadows officer quickly apprehended the fleeing subject after a short foot pursuit. Police also found a handgun that was tossed over the fence during the pursuit. All three males were arrested. Charges included unlawful use of a weapon and a traffic charge. All three subjects were transported in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters.

The driver’s Chevrolet Impala was towed to a police holding area for further investigation.
