Thieves Burglarize Apartment Lot Vehicles Using Stolen Auto from Night Before in Palatine

Palatine police received a report about 1:30 a.m. Monday that a burglary to a vehicle was in progress in the 1700 block of North Rose in Palatine. Two offenders were reported breaking into a car in an apartment back parking lot and loading items into an SUV.

Palatine police arrived in about one minute and immediately had one suspect in custody. The second suspect was found a few minutes later.

As police investigated the suspects’ vehicle, they discovered the vehicle was reported stolen during the previous police shift at about 8:20 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle was a Toyota RAV 4 reported stolen from the 1800 block of North Green Lane in Palatine.

Offenders broke into about six cars total in the apartment lot, and stole car stereos and woofers.

Both suspects were transported in custody to Palatine Police Department Headquarters.
