The vehicle was leaking oil and likely to have heavy front-end damage.

Just minutes after 2:00 a.m. Thursday police got a call from a driver that his silver Volkswagon Jetta was stolen from a location at 10 East Northwest Highway. After police questioned the Jetta driver, police found the damaged Volkswagon Jetta at Campbell Street and Reuter Drive at about 2:15 a.m. The driver was arrested at about 2:20 a.m. and transported to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters.

Driver arrest DUI (?) or leaving the scene of a property damage accident — or both(?).
