Martin Sawala, 19, Arrested on Drug Charges, Heroin Found at Home

Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:40 a.m. Saturday to a call for an overdose in the 500 block of Cedar Lane in Elk Grove Village. Paramedics treated Martin Sawala, 19, and transported him to the hospital.

Elk Grove Village police called for assistance for a drug sniff of the house from Arlington Heights Police Department K-9 unit and discovered several bags of heroin in his home.

Later in the day after Martin Sawala was released from the hospital, police charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Sawala is being held on $30,000 bond, and is ordered to appear in court February 8, 2010 for violating parole and March 3, 20010 for the most recent drug charge.

Martin Sawala has previous convictions for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, criminal trespass to a motor vehicle and DUI.
