Arlington Heights police arrested a man within one minute of a call for help from a woman bystander who called 9-1-1 when she witnessed Dominick’s security personnel attempting to detain a man who stole two bottles of liquor from the Dominick’s liquor department about 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

An Arlington Heights police officer who was on patrol nearby announced on the radio that he had one subject in custody within one minute of the dispatch of the emergency call for retail theft at Dominick’s.

There was possibly a second offender involved on a bicycle waiting outside the Dominick’s but he was not apprehended.

The “man” turned out to be a male juvenile. He was transported to the Arlington Heights police jail at about 5:00 p.m.
