Arlington Heights police are searching for a suspected burglar who broke into a home in the 400 block of East Burr Oak just after 10:00 p.m. Friday.
A resident called police after hearing someone inside the house. Police arrived and found evidence of a break-in. They immediately setup a large search effort in the neighborhood. Police are in backyards with flashlights and the police dog is tracking.
Mount Prospect Fire Department fighting a garbage truck fire with explosion an Kensington between Rand Road and Wheeling. The garbage truck was fully-involved with a report of fire blowing across Kensington. Prospect Heights Fire Department assisted Mount Prospect Fire Department. No injuries reported. The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes. The fire was reported out about 30 minutes later.
Firefighters checked the Home Depot building to make sure the heat and fire from the garbage truck did not ignite the Home Depot contents or structure.
Kensington Road was blocked for a prolonged period and traffic was diverted through the Randhurst Mall shopping center parking lot and drives.
