Palatine Police Department assisted Arlington Heights Police late Wednesday night and early Thursday to close the intersection of Palatine Road and Kennicott for a prolonged period during an accident investigation. A 50-year-old Arlington Heights male cyclist was struck by a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero XL as he rode his bike southbound on Kennicott — disobeying a red light at Kennicott at about 10:30 p.m. The Montero — an SUV — was eastbound driven by a 29-year-old woman.
The cyclist suffered a head injury and injuries to both legs. The traffic was diverted around the intersection until about 2:30 a.m. during investigation.

TUE MAR 25 2008 10:52 PM – Richie Sambora was arrested for DUI after police pulled him over at Pacific Coast Highway and Brooks Street. A Laguna Beach police officer noticed a black H2 Hummer straddling two lanes and made the traffic stop. Richard Sambora was asked to form a series of field sobriety tests, which lead the officer to believe that Sambora was driving while intoxicated. His Blood Alcohol Content result, which were released about one week later showed a level of BAC 0.13.

An adult female and two female children were passengers in the Hummer. One of the passengers was his daughter (10-year-old Ava) with actress and ex-wife Heather Locklear.
UPDATE: A second charge of Child Endangerment was dropped and the DUI sentence for Sambora was three years’ informal probation. Sambora was ordered to attend three months of alcohol-offender classes and pay court fees and restitution of about $1,600. Zero tolerance: Sambora must avoid drugs and alcohol during his probation.
Sambora was not present at the Orange County Superior Court hearing; attorney, Blair Berk entered the plea on his client’s behalf.
