Todd Exline

Todd Exline, 47, a sheriff’s deputy and former head of the Kane County Jail, who had been suspended since he was accused of drunken-driving after a June 29, 2007 traffic stop on Route 25 in Geneva (near Batavia and Mill Race Inn [MAP/SAT]), was fired Monday, March 10, 2008 by a sheriff’s disciplinary panel.

The arrest began with a 911 call from a citizen to report a vehicle driving erratically. A Batavia officer pulled Exline over in Geneva. The Geneva police officers administered the sobriety test, which was failed by Exline. The Batavia officer did not observe Exline driving erratically. Exline was arrested, handcuffed and taken to the Geneva Police Department, but was set free that night over uncertainty of probable cause by Geneva Police Department. After further consideration of the incident, he was later asked to turn himself in.

Todd Exline was found guilty of two of four allegations. The decision ended a 26-year career with Kane County.

UPDATE: Spitzer resigned Wednesday March12, 2008.

New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, 48, enforced the law and he also violated the law.

FBI wiretaps caught the New York governor with communications with The Emperor’s Club, an international prostitution ring. Eliot Spitzer said he had acted in a way that “violated my obligations to my family and violates my, or any, sense of right or wrong” but he did not admit or respond to any specific allegations and he did not resign. Allegations that Eliot Spitzer is Client-9.

A prostitute named “Kristen” spoke with a Emperors Club booker, who said that she had been told that Client-9 “would ask you to do things that, like, you might not think were safe…” “Kristen” responded by saying, essentially, that she could handle guys like that.

The Emperors Club operation, which charged up to $5500 an hour for one of its 50 prostitutes, who operated in New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, London, and Paris.

In 2004 as New York State Attorney, General, Spitzer’s office indicted two operators of a New York travel agency for organizing “sex tours” to Southeast Asia. Douglas Allen, 59, and Norman Barabash, 58, were charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of promoting prostitution. The business brochure promised “unforgettable adventure vacations for single men to paradise.

Also in 2004 in New Paltz, N.Y., Jason West, the Green Party mayor, presided over the weddings of two dozen gay couples. George Pataki, the state’s Republican Governor,  asked Eliot Spitzer, the Democratic state attorney general, to halt them. Spitzer refused.

Spitzer was recently entangled in a policy of giving drivers licenses to illegal aliens, which was a falling point for Hilary Clinton, who agreed with his policy.

Drunk and Disorderly in Arlington Heights Downtown

The Arlington Heights Police Department was kept busy following up on reports of disorderly acts involving alcohol during rush hour Monday evening.

The first call involved one man passed out and vomiting on the grate of a building near Vail and Sigwalt. An ambulance was called when police found a man with alcohol in his possession unconcious at the scene.

The second call came in about 30 minutes later for a group of three males drinking and laying on picnic tables at Memorial Park on Fremont west of the Arlington Heights Memorial Library. Ten minutes later another caller reported that three males were drunk and disorderly in front of the Arlington Heights Memorial Library at 500 North Dunton Avenue. Most likely the group at the library were the same group at Memorial Park, since the Memorial Park group was gone when police arrived.

In the midst of these calls, a second ambulance was called for a homeless man in distress at the train station at 45 West Northwest Highway. It is unknown if alcohol was involved at the train station call.

News comes fast every day. Some of it is incomplete. Some of it is wrong. Often it is not connected with past news, so the information on TV, newspapers and magazines is often conflicting and confusing. Many people just turn off the news. The negativity is too much. Too many questions and not enough answers. Overly stressed, these people are wise enough to focus on affirmations and hope, but they miss opportunities and cautions. The Cardinal goal is to process news -- to inform and encourage connection of information, adaptation to news, and ultimately affirmation and the pursuit of excellence in human effort: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
