Shooting at Brookside Center in Tinley Park: Four Killed, One Injured, Shooter Fled

View Larger Chicago Area Major Crimes Map …

UPDATE: Fifth person dies, police believe suspect fled southwest on I-80.

Tinley Park Police responded to the Brookside Center at 7264 West 191st Street [MAP/SAT] at about 10:45 a.m. Saturday. An EMS extra alarm was requested by Tinley Park Fire Department. Orland Park responded with two ambulances to help Tinley Park paramedics. Four people were found dead at the scene at the Lane Bryant store.

Police immediately searched the area with the aid of “Air 2″ — a police helicopter.  All stores in the immediate area were canvassed. The suspect is described as an African-American male of medium complexion, standing 5 feet 8 inches and weighing 230 to 260 pounds, with a black knit cap, a black waist-length winter coat, and dark jeans.

One sighting may have put the suspect at the Brookside Glen subdivision immediately following the crime. The Lane Bryant store is near the intersection of Harlem and 191st Street, which is Interstate 57 and Interstate 80.

Security cameras in the Lane Bryant store have helped police tentatively identify the man, who has a prior history of armed robbery and a homicide conviction. The shootings may have resulted in a botched robbery attempt.

Anyone with any helpful tips to the case are asked to call the Tinley Park police at (708) 444-5368.

News comes fast every day. Some of it is incomplete. Some of it is wrong. Often it is not connected with past news, so the information on TV, newspapers and magazines is often conflicting and confusing. Many people just turn off the news. The negativity is too much. Too many questions and not enough answers. Overly stressed, these people are wise enough to focus on affirmations and hope, but they miss opportunities and cautions. The Cardinal goal is to process news -- to inform and encourage connection of information, adaptation to news, and ultimately affirmation and the pursuit of excellence in human effort: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
