A 13-year-old female student brought an unloaded gun to Christian Liberty Academy apparently to scare students who had bullied her on previous occasions.

She showed the semi-automatic pistol to another student at Christian Liberty Academy, 502 West Euclid Avenue about 2:30 p.m.  November 19, 2008.

School administrators found the gun, owned by the student’s parents, in her backpack after the witness reported seeing the gun to school officials. The student with the gun was immediately expelled and all parents of the private school were notified by letter.

The 13 year-old was charged with one count of possession of a firearm in public and is scheduled to appear in juvenile court.

Three inches of heavy, wet snow is affecting powerlines, trees and
shrubs.

A powerline snapped on Golf Road, just west of Arlington Heights Road about 2:50 a.m. Monday. The line was hanging low over Golf Road and was causing power interruptions throughout Arlington Heights overnight.

Lines are sagging across the area and there are several reports of power lines down in the northwest suburbs.
