Summer Gym Passes and Fitness Center Passes for College Students

Here’s a comparison of two fitness facilities available to Arlington Heights residents that have three-month packages that can be used by students.

Athletico is a physical therapy facility that uses its facility for conditioning as well as rehabilitation. Athletico has an Arlington Heights location at Arlington Heights Road and Sigwalt. Athletico also has other locations throughout the Chicago area. Athletico is offering a three-month pass for $99.

XSPORT FITNESS is a 24-hour fitness facility with two locations in Arlington Heights (near Dundee and Ridge/near Arlington Heights Road and Golf) and several other locations throughout the Chicago area.  XSPORT has a 3 month pass for $189 that can get you into multiple locations, but not all of their locations. There is another pass at about $220 that can get you in to all of their locations.

Here’s a line-by-line comparison:
XSPORT is open 24 hours, so that’s a big plus.

XSPORT has more equipment, but depending on your sport, you may not need the extra equipment.

Athletico is a Physical Therapist facility first, so they have a lot of good functional training equipment and they also have a lot of instruction that is focused on functional training and sports specific training.

XSPORT has more fitness locations that can be coordinated with commutes to summer jobs, etc. In total, Athletico actually has more locations, but they may not all be fitness locations. See this Athletico link to find the locations of fitness centers.

Athletico has a golf performance center in Oak Brook, which they claim to be the most technologically advanced golf performance and training center in the Chicago area.

Fitness passes and summer packages may change without notice on this article, so make sure you confirm pricing with each facility before making a decision. Pricing information was obtained verbally over the phone.

Mercedes Hits Tree at Pine and Hawthorne

A one-car accident involved a Mercedes C32 that crashed into a large elm tree in a yard on the south side of the intersection of Pine Avenue and Hawthorne Street [MAP/SAT] in Arlington Heights about 9:30 p.m Saturday night.

Tire tracks on the lawn were apparently from southbound Pine Avenue in the yard that interrupts southbound Pine Avenue at Hawthorne Street. The Mercedes had severe front end damage, traveling about 30 yards across the lawn into a large tree, which also suffered serious damage. It appears either the driver was driving too fast to make a left turn to eastbound Hawthorne or the driver did not realize that Pine Avenue ended at Hawthorne. The accident is under investigation by the Arlington Heights Police Department.

One male was arrested at the accident scene.

It is unknown if there were injuries from the accident.

Last year the owners of the restaurant sold the business, but kept ownership of the building.
