U.S. home prices fell 4.5 percent in the third quarter from a year earlier, the sharpest drop since Standard & Poor’s began its nationwide housing index — The S&P/Case-Shiller quarterly index — in 1987.
The results point to a slump that is far from over.

A burglary to vehicle was reported to the Arlington Heights Police
Department Tuesday afternoon. The burglary occurred to a van that was
parked behind Lowes near Algonquin and Golf.

resident believed his mail was tampered with in his mailbox Tuesday
about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the 600 block of North Hickory.

smashed at the Vail Avenue parking garage near the pedestrian bridge
about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
