Third Murder in a Week in Chicago’s Uptown Neighborhood, All Gunshot Victims

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2007
Mario Bell, 25, of Chicago was found shot to death at around 5 a.m. Monday at the 4500 block of North Hazel Street [MAP/SAT]. The shooter got out of a Morton cab, shot the victim in the head, returned to the cab, and fled with a driver last seen heading south on Lake Shore Drive. The shooter is described as 18 to 23 years old, 5 foot 10 wearing a dark blue hooded-type jacket and light-colored jeans. It is unknown if the cab was stolen.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2007
James Lane, 29, was walking on Clifton street when he was approached by a man who fired four or five shots, hitting him in the head. James Lane died at the scene in the 4600 block of Clifton Avenue [MAP/SAT].

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2007
Phillipi Larrnarri, 32, was shot Thursday while sleeping on a park bench on the 4500 block of Hazel Street at about 5:00 a.m. Witnesses report two people approached Larrnarri when one of them shot him multiple times [MAP/SAT].
