A supercell thunderstorm formed in Batavia, Illinois, tracked across Wheaton, I-355, Elk Grove Village (about 5:22 p.m.), directly over O’Hare International Airport (about 5:30 p.m.), the Tri-State (during the evening rush hour) and eventually spawned a tornado that touched down on the Loyola University Sheridan Campus near Rogers Park (about 6:05 p.m.) and proceeded as a waterspout and touched down on Lake Michigan’s water surface.

Lightning in Elk Grove Village was severe with large cloud-to-ground bolts with persistent repetitive strikes. The rain from the supercell thunderstorm brought zero visibility and hail and traffic came to a halt. No reported injuries from this storm.
