Sandhill Cranes Migrating North

You’re standing on your driveway on a beautiful, sunny day in March. You hear this strange noise like a loose fan belt, but your car is not running. If you look up, you just might see a flock of Sandhill Cranes heading north to their summer home in Wisconsin. They fly in a ‘V’ formation like geese, but at a much higher altitude. Every once in a while they do a total mid-air dance — something like they’re playing musical chairs. Then there is a new lead bird fighting the air resistance and they are on their merry migration.

One such migration was obseverved today at 11:02 a.m. CST.
