Today wecognized seek-aid.com domain as a results page for bad domains in Safari and Netscape (instead of simple ’server not available’).
Example:
Bad domain: alkjdf.gom
RESULT: http://www5.seek-aid.com/search?qo=alkjdf.gom&rn=c3OeKgOdtZ6u6Qv
The resulting page did not occur when using Comcast Broadband. It only occurred using the WOWWAY Internet service. A call to a WOWWAY customer service elicited a response that they were not causing the search result page from seek-aid.com. The fact that this is showing up on WOWWAY and not Comcast, points to the fact that there is referral happening from the DNS servers from WOWWAY that are not happening from Comcast.net.
The page has what appears to be affiliate links and a Yahoo! search box. There is an About link at the bottom of the page which does not show any company information. The About link brinks users to a Opt-Out page that gives instruction to select to stop seeing the aid-seek.com result page. The following is an excerpt from that page:

It was also noted recently that forwarded domains that are registered with GoDaddy.com were not following all the way throught to their forwared domains. WOWWAY users had to hit the enter key a second time to get the desired page to display. It is unknown if this is related to something new that WOWWAY might be doing with their DNS servers.
WOWWAY Internet Speed Test results for Arlington Heights using Safari.

WOWWAY seemed a little slow lately. Also noticed a new search result page as a result of bad domain names typed in the URL field of the browsers (both Safari and Netscape).
See Strange Page Result on WOWWAY Internet for additional information.

boreal
Time lapse movie of the aurora borealis (better known as the Northern Lights) on September 24th in British Columbia, Canada.
Note from Arlingtoncards.com: After you view the beauty of the northern lights a few times, check out the the constellations rising from left to right. In the sky these constellations would be rising from East to West, but since the view is probably a north view, these constellations are rotating counterclockwise about the North Star or Polaris.
A little before halfway through the time elapse, the Big Dipper (Ursa Major) comes into view… stage left and crosses toward the right of the video. At about three-quarters time elapse, the Big Dipper is in the center of the video. About one-quarter elapsed time you can see Auriga rising in the lower right corner.
You can always find helpful links about the night sky, such as Auroral Activity at Arlingtoncards.com/sky
The northern lights are sometimes visible in the Arlington Heights area. When they are present, it is much easier to see the Northern Lights in more northern lattitudes and in areas with less artificial light.
Here is a flashback to May 2005 with a picture looking northwest toward an Arlington Heights sky at about 3 a.m.

Shortly after the picture (above) was taken, the Space Environment Center was publishing this graphic (below) of Auroral Activity for the northern hemisphere.

You can check for Auroral Activity on your own at the NOAA Space Environment Center website. Loof for the Space Weather Now link … and then look for Auroral Activity.
The temperature fell to 21 degrees Farenheit overnight (6:51 a.m. for November 3), but not even close to the record low of 14 degrees Farenheit on November 2 or 11 degrees Farenheit on November 3. This overnight was the third night in a row to hit the twenty’s (27 degrees F on November 1 and 24 degrees Farenheit on November 2).
The average low for this time of year is still above freezing at 36 degrees Farenheit.
The average high for this time of year is about 54 degrees Farenheit.
The Planet Fitness Gym in Wappingers Falls, New York kicked out a man for ‘grunting’ out loud while doing a heavy squat exercise. A list of ‘don’ts’ reinforces a marketing focus for the club to have a reputation as a relaxed, non-intimidating environment. Those rules include No Grunting; No Gallon Water Jugs; No Jeans, Workboot, Sandals; No Do-Rags, Bandanas, Skull Caps; No Deadlifting and No Picture Cell Phones. They have even posted a forum with negative and positive reaction to the news about the man who was removed late October 2006. Is the member ejection a publicity stunt? The company claims several members are kicked out every year for violating its etiquette policy that discourages so-called ‘musclehead behavior.’
There is even a ‘lunk alarm’ with a flashing light and siren ready to signal lunk behavior. ‘Lunk’ is defined as a slang noun — one who grunts, drop (sic) weights, or judges.
