Arlington Heights Fire Department used the ‘jaws of life’ to extricate a young male adult while they called for a Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center Flight for Life helicopter to transfer one patient to Lutheran General Hosptal Level One Trauma Center in Park Ridge. The landing zone for the helicopter was Lloyd Meyer Field at Recreation Park where varsity baseball players in the high school fall baseball porgram had their game
delayed while the victim was transferred from the Arlington Fire
Ambulance to the helicopter in short left center field. The accident
occurred in the Arlington Heights Road construction zone at Fremont Street early Thursday night.

MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) is sending from each division one piece of fire apparatus, several support vehicles, chief officers and firefighters for a 14-day deployment in the Gulf Coast region for Hurricane Katrina relief. Vehicles are leaving through the night and morning hours and forming a convoy heading south for the hurricane damage from Monday.
